Inanimate object drawing
artist statement:
For my inanimate object I decided to draw a candle. I chose this object to represent me because in my life, I live a very positive life and surround myself with positive energy and people. Much like a candle, I thought this would really represent me as a person as well as my positive personality. When I first began to draw out my candle, I really wanted to give it that waxy, candle stick look, and so i ended up using a new medium to me: oil pastels. Though messy, I loved using them to capture the soft glow of the candle and the rough wooden candle stick. Looking back, I really fell in love with the texture of the finished piece and hope to use more oil pastels in the future.

I chose this piece to rework into a painting to have exhibited in a school mural art installation
