For this collage, the goal was to take the aspects from our johari's window and bring it to life with mixed media. For this piece, I decided to create a simple watercolor background using shades of purple to represent my favorite color as well as green to showcase nature. After that, I used a wide bristle brush to create a sweep effect in a grey and purple acrylic paint. After a grid effect was added, I began to clip out black and white photos of cars, Marilyn Monroe, and old nurse campaigns to tell the viewer of my love for antiques and vintage pieces. As for Marilyn, she also symbolized my love for makeup. Next up was my hobbies, and I added lines of old cassette tapes to show my love for music and arranged a butterfly, my favorite animal, on top of them. Next came a stack of books since reading is one of my favorite hobbies. The final touches of this piece included my beagle Banjo and some of my fears: heights and tigers. Through this piece I tried to represent what I am through objects with a more hidden meaning. For example, the old nurse ad that represents my future career goal. Or the clouds of old newspaper that shows my passion for writing. Even the lilypond sidelines or the daisy stamps symbolize my love for nature. |
